What Is Low-Pressure Equipment?

Low-pressure refrigeration equipment uses refrigerants that have a saturation pressure below 45 psia at 104 F. This definition is based on the refrigerant's thermodynamic properties, not the system's operating conditions. Any equipment charged with a refrigerant meeting this threshold is classified as low-pressure regardless of its actual operating pressures at any given moment.
